All about Books
This is the page where I will be discussing what I'm reading, reviewing those books and be open to suggestions to keep adding to my To Be Read pile. Honestly, I'm never going to get through that thing anyway, so the more the merrier.
As this book has only just been released, the review for it will be short, because I don't want to give away any spoilers.
I've never really read comic book adaptions before and am a Marvel fan over DC- though I missed the Wonder Woman film at cinemas (I know!) and am excited to buy the DVD. However, the concept of the DC Icons series really intrigued me, not least a few of my favourite authors were going to be involved.
Title: Wonder Woman: Warbringer
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Part of a trilogy: No, it's a standalone. However, the book is collectively part of the DC Icons series, but could still be read separately.
Original publication date: 29th August 2017 (UK and US)
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars (Read August-September 2017)
“Sister in battle, I am shield and blade to you. As I breathe, your enemies will know no sanctuary. While I live, your cause is mine.”
First up in the series, we have Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo, a favourite author of mine.
I love this book. It has the humour typically found in her books, so that my parents kept asking if I was laughing at the TV or the book and not saying anything when it was always the latter. There is also plenty of action and I learnt a bit more about Greek mythology.
The new characters were almost all delightful and to me, Theo reminds me of Jesper from the Six of Crows duology, also by Leigh Bardugo. Again, there is a high level of diversity in many forms which was lovely to read about.
Overall, I suggest reading it if you haven't already. :)
PS- I'm also looking forward to the rest of the DC Icons series. They will involve Sarah J Maas (Yay!!) writing Catwoman, Marie Lu writing Batman and Matt le Pena writing Superman. The full article is here:
As always, let me know if you've read it and what you thought, OR if you want to read it and you're looking forward to. All the best and happy reading.
